Local expertise
The tri-state lets a couple pick their backdrop. Manhattan rooftops and Tribeca lofts, a Brooklyn waterfront under the Brooklyn Bridge, or a Hudson Valley barn an hour north. Spring (Apr-May) and fall foliage (Oct) are peak; book the short cherry-blossom window early. DUMBO's Manhattan Bridge framing is the shot every couple wants, but go pre-dawn or fight the crowds. Central Park and Prospect Park cherry blossoms (Apr-May) last barely two weeks.
Brownstone stoops in Brooklyn shoot best before 8am ahead of double-parked cars. Parks Department permits for the big parks are usually folded into the venue contract. Plan 1-2 hours of travel between boroughs and upstate, and budget for Parks permits if you're doing formal portrait sessions in Central or Prospect Park.
